Compressibility Index

  • Compressibility Index is a calculated data other than measured data, it is calculated by the formula:
  • Compressibility Index = 100(V   - V  )/V
  • V   is unsettled apparent volume
  • V   is final tapped volume
  • The Compressibility Index is measure of the propensity of a powder to be compressed as described above. As such it is measure of the powder's ability to settle, and it permit an assessment of the relative importance of interparticulate interactions. In a free-flowing powder, such interactions are less significant, and the bulk and tapped densities will be closer in value. For poorer flowing materials, there are frequently greater interparticle interactions, and a greater difference between the bulk and tapped densities will be observed. These differences are reflected in the Compressibility Index.

Tap Density Measurement International Standards and AS-100 Tap Density Tester

A competent and flexible tap density tester should work on all international standards. These standards include ASTM B527 measures metallic powders tap density, ASTM D4164 measures formed catalysts tap density, ASTM D4781 measures fine catalysts tap density, IDF 134 measures dried milk tap density, ISO 787-11 measures pigments tap denstiy, ISO 3953 measures metallic powders tap density, ISO 8460 measures instant coffee tap density, ISO 8967 measures dried milk tap density, ISO 9161 measures uranium dioxide powder tap density, JIS K5101-12-2 measures pigments tap density, JIS Z 2512 measures metallic  powders tap density, MPIF 46 measures metal powders tap density, USP 616 method I and II measures pharmaceutical powders tap density, JP 3.01 Part 2 Method I measures pharmaceutical powders tap density, PH.Eur.6.8 method I measures pharmaceutical powders tap density and ISO 23145-1 measures ceramic powders tap density. AS-100 Tap Density Tester meets them all by its standard and functional structure as well as custom vibrating device according to specific international standards. www.aimsizer.com
